Sept. 12/13: Cottage 3, Jenkins Creek, Bunkhouse and Camper Cabins.

Sept. 19/20: River Lodge, Bunkhouse and a Camper Cabin.

We're right on the bank of the White River and the only resort located in a Blue Ribbon Trophy area. The rugged beauty of the Ozark Mountains sets the backdrop for our lodging facilities.   Mountain Home Arkansas is about 20 minutes away, and the White River is only 20 feet away!

Sunday, September 7th - 8:00 am - Bull Shoals is running two units again and it looks like you'll be able to enjoy a mild 75 degree day. Zebra midges and olive woolies were the big producers this week-end.

Norfork is shut down at this time.

Who Needs Vegas?

If you like to gamble, you may find a trip to the White River a very satisfying risk. With continuous high water generation discouraging wade anglers all summer, we were much gratified that the Mid South Fly Fishers of Memphis, TN stayed firm with their decision to hold their annual fall outing here. Gustav blew a lot of rain just days before their arrival, creeks rain over, flash flooding was imminent. But, the group persevered and were rewarded with glorious sun, clear, low, low water and lots of fish! Sorry, we didn't get it on film, but this weekend has been a fine example of fall fishing on the White River.

Regardless of weather and water levels the odds that you'll have a great time at Rim Shoals are high!  We still have plenty of lodging available this September.  Go ahead, take a chance and give us a call.

Thanks again, to Mid-South members for their support!

Hurricane Gustav blessed us with a big round of big rain Tuesday and Wednesday. An unexpected side effect was decreased generation from both Bull Shoals and Norfork Dams. The few customers visiting and many locals hit the water, regardless of the weather.

The trout have been growing for months in high water and obviously did not know how to respond to 0 generation.

Steve Saitta, Columbia, MO. His labor week-end proved quite fruitful. He's showing off this football shaped rainbow caught while wade fishing Saturday. He was midge fishing near our dock/pavilion.

At left, Steve Harrison, fishing with Davy Wotton, caught this 22" Bow along with a bunch of other fine fish Saturday (8/30). This fish was in the 3.8 to 4lb weight class.

Expectations for Fall Generation

Many of our wade fishers rescheduled their spring visit to fall due to the late winter flooding. We have all been optimistic that the lake levels would be under control by August. But, repeated rains in Missouri have squashed those hopes. It is now time to brutally evaluate your fishing options. Not only do we want you to visit, we need you to visit. But we are not going to hold out false hopes that any guest can hope to walk into the middle of the river to fish.

Jamie Crownover of Hurst Fishing Service received this response from John Kielczewski, PE,  Corp of Engineers when asked if we can expect periods of inactivity or lower water in the next month or two:

"Unfortunately, there won't be much change in generation in the near future.  I expect Bull Shoals to continue its current daily release in the 16,000 csf range through about October 10th when Bull Shoals lake elevation of 655.0 is reached.  When elevation 655.0 is reached, releases will be curtailed to about 11,000 csf until conservation pool, elevation 654.0, is reached on or about October 15th.  Rainfall, as you well know, will only delay or push out these dates."

On a positive note, fishing from a boat has proven to be extremely satisfying for our summer visitors and will continue to be a great way to spend your time. Combine that with wonderful fall temps and colors and you have very little reason to stay away.
